Each capsule provides 15mg of lycopene, while the tub recommends 1-2 capsules per day, at a cost of 19p/capsule. I take this because a number of clinical trials shows that tomato consumption, and in particular the lycopene, can have beneficial effects on the skin's ability to stave off sun damage. I take two of these per day through the summer and on holiday and, alongside sunscreen, I don't experience any reddening or burning of the skin. Through winter months and spring months like now, I take just one per day, because there's still UV raining down on us. I have been taking lycopene supplements for years, and prior to that I would consune a large amount of tomato paste each day during the summer months. I would highly recommend this to anyone as a little extra defence against UV related damage in addition to a topical SPF.
I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme. A useful supplement, particularly if you (like me..) are getting older and things like macular degeneration and prostate problems are of heightened risk. The capsules appear well made, there were no broken ones or dust in the container I received. No perceptible aftertaste. Manufactured in the UK. I like the letter-box friendly packaging, much better than a round bottle that you have to be home to receive. Retailing at £22.97 for between two and four months supply depending on dosage, they are rather expensive as I found a very similar product for half that cost by searching the Amazon site, so not the best value for money. Like all supplementation, do your own research and decide what's best for you.
I started to take these lycopene supplements in order to help my eyes, my eyesight isn’t that great anymore and my eyes seem to be tired all the time. I took 2 capsules a day, with my main meal and I have noticed a difference after taking them for a couple of weeks. The size of capsules is standard and it is easy to swallow them. My eyesight hasn't approved, which I wouldn't expect to happen anyway but my eyes don't feel that tired on daily basis. These huge pack will last me for 6 months and I think it's excellent value for money for lycopene. Very happy with these.
